浅谈复述英语课文的几种方法

摘要:英语课文复述对提高教师的教学效果和培养学生的综合语言运用能力

都具有举足轻重的作用。鉴于此,本文笔者基于自己多年的学习经验及教学实践,

论述了在英语教学中复述课文的方法:句型转换、词语连接、表格梳理、问题引

路、图画描述、课文概要和角色变换七种方法。

复述课文是指学生在熟读课文,了解其主要内容和脉络的基础上,然后根据

自己对原文的理解,用自己的话把课文内容说出来。它是语言知识经学生吸收、

存储、内化、整理和表达的过程。它不同于背诵,不是照般原文,而是一种基于

理解的创新。训练学生准确、流畅、熟练地复述课文,可以提高其口语表达能力、

用英语思维的能力和语篇组织能力,同时也培养学生在阅读理解上的综合、分析

和判断能力。下面笔者就简要叙述一下,自己在十几年的英语学习及教学实践中,

所用到的复述英语课文的几种方法。

一、句型转换法

教师可以指导学生进行多种形式的句型转换,像直接引语和间接引语的转

换、主动式和被动式的互换以及复合句和简单句等的转换。这种转换有利于培养

学生对语言的灵活运用能力,为复述课文打下坚实的基础。

二、词语连接法

很多学生在掌握各段大意后,往往还感到难于对课文整体复述,这种情况下,

教师可以从文中找到几个重要的词语,为学生提供一个复述提纲。教师将课文中

的关键词语按顺序写在黑板上或用投影等媒体显示到屏幕上,在学生阅读理解课

文内容后,边看边想,词扩句,句串段,段连篇,逐步扩展。这样能使学生思维

流畅,对重点内容记忆深刻。关键词可以是动词、连接词、也可以是年代或数字

等。学生经过提示词尝试复述并达到熟练程度后,可脱离提示词。如高中英语

Book1A,Unit8,Text—The Olympic Games,教师可板书以下关键词:Every four

years---take part in---the ancient Olympic Games---776BC---women were

not allowed---the first modern Olympic Games---1896---the 27th Olympic

Games---300 different events---the Olympic motto---the 29th Olympic

games---big chances,让学生进行复述。

三、表格梳理法

涉及科技、天文、地理、人物等的一些说明文,因文章中数据多、信息零散,

缺乏记叙文的连贯性,学生往往感到难以复述。这时可采用画图表的方法解决这

一难题。教师根据课文内容设计一个表格,要求学生阅读后完成该表格,随后再

要求学生根据表格进行复述。这样将凌乱的知识梳理整齐,有利于学生在复述时

避免张冠李戴,同时还可培养学生分析事物的能力。如上高中英语

Book1A,Unit11, Integrating Skills阅读Pop Versus Rock, 教师可列出了如

学生看了表格,对pop music 和rock music的相似点及区别一目了然,帮助学

生对文章思路的梳理并组织语言进行复述。

四、问题引路法

教师可根据课文内容设计一些具体问题,这些问题的设计不仅要紧扣课文内

容,还要体现其主要线索和事件,要求学生在阅读后或听后互相问答;然后引导

学生适当借助关联词语把所有答案按顺序串连起来进行口头表述。如以大学英语

精读第二册unit4 My First Job为例,提的问题可以是:

1.What job was advertised in the local newspaper?

2. How far was the school from where the narrator lived?

3.Why did he want to find a job?

4.Did he feel nervous when he got there?

5.What did the headmaster look like?

6.Were students at the same leve1?

7. How was the narrator supposed to deal with the class?

8.What subject was he expected to teach?

9.Who was the real boss in the school?

五、图画描述法

若教材中本身有图画.我们就充分利用它们来引导学生复述。让学生把课文内容和图画结合起来写出关键词语,也可根据学生的讨论将关键词写在黑板上,再要求学生口头描述图画来复述课文。若教材中没有图画,我们可按照事件的发展顺序一边叙述一边画简图或者借助教学挂图、简笔画、录像、幻灯或投影等,把抽象的课文内容直观、生动地展现给学生,以引导学生复述,这是一种形象记忆法,帮助记忆,效果极佳。如上SEFC Book 2A Unit8 First Aid 课文时,教师可制作这样几幅图片,

六、课文概要法

教师根据课文提供的主要信息,引导学生在阅读时概括每个段落的中心思想,即该段落的主题句,再把这些主题句连接起来,使学生对课文的理解系统化,复述条理化。这种方法尤其适合人物传记类或地点介绍类的文章。

七、角色变换法

要求学生在理解课文的内容后,通过变换人称,如作者是用第三人称写的,复述时可以改用第一人称;用第一人称写的,可以改用第三人称进行复述。充当各个不同的角色来复述课文;也可要求学生变换时态、语态或文体来对课文进行复述。例如,高中英语Book1A, Unit4, The Rescue是以第三人称Flora在遭遇

洪水突如其来的袭击进行叙述的,要求学生在复述的时候用第一人称,想象成自己的一次unforgettable experience,使自己有身临其境的感觉,在培养学生语言表达能力的同时,发挥了学生的想象力,同时又锻炼了模仿和表演能力,增加了复述的趣味性。

复述课文的方法有很多。教师可根据不同体裁、不同题材的文章,灵活地指导学生复述课文。在教师的指导下,学生将从一开始靠教师指点逐步过渡到能够独立复述。在这个过程中,学生的口语表达能力和阅读理能力会得到不断的提高。 如果时间较充足,还可以在口头复述的基础上,用笔头再复述一下,这样做可以加深掌握语言的精确程度,提高学生的书面表达能力。

一、背景介绍

英语口语能力的提高是一个长期而艰苦的过程,不仅需要学习,更需要练习。和听力与阅读不同,口语和写作都需要输出。但是如果只是不断地做输出练习,对于口语的提升也是有限的。因为,没有了输入的支撑,那么,反复的输出最终导致的结果就是很熟练的给出一些不地道甚至错误的表达,也就是将错误强化了。因此,口语水平从根本上的提升还需要大量的阅读和听力作为保证。阅读和听力一方面可以拓宽自己的知识面和掌握更精准、更地道的词汇和词组,另一方面,还可以帮助自己定位和发现自身存在的不足与错误。

听力和口语同时进行,最好的方法就是跟读训练,跟读的好处在于:第一,可以提高训练者的听力水平,因为跟读的前提是听懂,至少是听清楚每个单词的发音;第二,可以纠正和培养训练者的发音和语感,当然这取决所选择英语听力材料的纯正性——地道的英式或美式英语;第三,可以提高训练者的口语水平。所以,做跟读训练是一种事半功倍一石三鸟的方法。

在当今的音像市场上,针对于雅思口语考试的听力材料并不十分丰富,更缺乏权威的材料,所以,雅思考生可以尝试另外一种阅读和口语相结合的方式。阅读与口语的同时训练,方法有两个,一种是背诵;另外一种是复述。下面专家将就这两种方式做一些对比分析。

二、问题分析和解决思路

无庸置疑,中国的雅思考生记忆能力相对来说还是比较强的。背诵文章对于整体英语水平的帮助是显而易见的,但是对于口语单项来说,可能效果就比较局限了。

究其原因,背诵本身就是一个比较机械的反复加深印象的过程,即使对背诵的内容不熟悉或者不理解都可以做到整篇流利的背诵。长此以往,尽管有海量的背诵材料做基础,考生也很难将这些材料在短暂的时间内灵活的发挥出来。背诵的结果可能仅仅是文字和内容上的拓展,而不是最终能力上的飞跃。

与之相比,我们所要求的复述可能要略胜一筹。复述的前提是对于文字材料的理解,我们的大脑在理解的过程中,会将抽象的文字转化为图形、影像或者一个过程、流程,是一个有人物、地点、事物的场景。而这个场景是可以脱离文字而独立存在的,也是可以用任何不同的语言表现出来的。比如,我们可以尝试着去想象这样一个画面:你和一个朋友漫步在伦敦的街头,欣赏这个美丽繁华的都市,突然间朋友晕倒了,你需要立即送他

去医院。或者,想象这样的一个画面:You and one of your friends are walking along a big street in London enjoying the beauty of the city. Suddenly, your friend passed out, you need to send him to the hospital immediately. 无论,是英文的还是中文的表达,我们想象出来的场景应该是十分相似的。我们刚才想象出来的画面,就是我们对于文字的理解。复述的过程包含三个步骤:首先,逐字逐句的扫描和阅读抽象的文字,可能有部分文字或者句型我们不太理解,但是根据前后文进行逻辑推理,我们依然能够明白文字的主要内容;然后,我们将能够理解的部分转化为场景;最后,我们用自己能够驾驭的单词以声音的形式将内容再现。

三、解决方法

复述练习无疑是一个可以有效提升口语能力的方法,接下来,考生要注意材料的选择。有些人喜欢模仿经典,比如马丁路德金或者肯尼迪的演讲,我们必须要肯定对能力提升的作用,但是我们还要注意,这对考试成绩的提高可能帮助不大,因此,专家建议考生们尽量选择雅思口语考试的素材进行练习。

练习时间:不低于24小时(以分钟为单位累加计算)。3小时/天,即8天;1小时/天,即24天;半小时/天,48天;时间不确定或者无法坚持的同学,还是坚定不移的飘过吧!推荐每天练习1-3个小时;

练习方法:

1. 读一遍文章中给出的句子,如有不认识的单词,请查阅相关工具,确保理解句子的含义,这也是增加自己词汇量的一个很好的途径。

2. 将本书合起或者将目光移至别处或者将双眼闭起。

3. 回忆刚才所看到的句子,用自己的语言,当然是英语,把它说出来。

4. 查看原句,对比自己说的和原句是否在句子含义上是一致的。

5. 如果对这个句子含义的表述已经很准确了,那么加快自己说这句话时的语速,和正常阅读时候的速度差不多。

6. 如果这个句子的练习,您已经很满意了,那么请对下一个句子进行练习,直到结束。如果有兴趣的话,可以任意找一些其他的英文句子,以同样的方法做强化训练。

注意事项:

1. 在把这个句子表述完成之前,一定不要看原句。

2. 你可以把句子表达的不完整或不准确,但是在把这个句子表述完成之前,一定不要看原句。

3. 你甚至可以句子说的与原来的含义南辕北辙,但是在把这个句子表述完成之前,一定不要看原句。

4. 不要试图把句子背下来,看一遍即可。
