People in America love blue jeans. They have become one of the symbols of American culture. Why are they so popular?

Levi Strauss did not invent jeans ,but he is considered the 1 first person to make and sell great numbers of them.

Levi Strauss was born in Bavaria, an area that today is part of Germany. In 1847, he and his family 2 moved to the United States. Levi Strauss opened a small dry goods store, first in New York, 3 then in San Francisco, California. Among the products he sold were jeans. These pants were especially useful for miners in California. They needed clothing 4 made from a strong material. Jeans are just what they needed.

Then, Levi Strauss worked with a clothing maker named Jacob Davis. Davis had invented a process to make the jeans stronger.

In 1873, the Levi Strauss Company registered the word “Levis” as a trademark(商标) for their product. The Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History in Washington has one of the oldest known 5 pairs of Levi’s.

Cowboys wore jeans in the old Wild West. In the 1950s, people saw 6 famous Hollywood actors like James Dean and Marion Brando wearing jeans in movies.

Today jeans still come in 7 blue as well as lots of other colors. They can also differ widely in price. You might find jeans for 15dollars in an American discount store. However, they can also 8 sell for thousands of dollars a pair.

外国短文篇三：外国人在日本的不便中日双语短文

「テクノロジーの国なのに??」外国人が日本の生活でガッカリすること

“明明是高科技国家??”外国人在日本生活失望的地方

前回の記事（実は「不便」在日外国人が日本に変わってほしいこと）で、日本に住む外国人たちの悲痛な叫びをお聞きいただいたが、一つの記事ではとてもおさまりきらないほどの改善点が挙げられたので、今回も「外国人が日本で不便に感じていること」について話を聞いてみた。

上次的报道（实在“不便”在日本外国人希望日本改变的地方）中，我们听到了在日本的外国人的悲惨叫唤，光一篇报道不足以涵盖其希望改善之处，本次继续询问“外国人在日本感到不便之处”。

最初はやはり現代に必要不可欠な、インターネットの話題に。「Free が設置されている場所が増えてほしい」（韓国）、「台湾は地下鉄やコンビニにもありますよ」（台湾）、「オーストリアはタクシーにも」（オーストリア）、「私の国ではレストランやカフェで無料で使えます」（ルーマニア、ウクライナ）と、意見を聞いたレポーター全員が、日本の環境の悪さに不満を抱いている様子。さらに、「日本にも無料で使えるカフェはありますが、スポットが少なく事前登録も面倒」（パキスタン）とのこと。イメージの逆をいく現状に、少々ガッカリしてしまったよう。

首先是现代社会必不可缺的互联网的话题。“希望增设免费WiFi场所”（韩国），“台湾连地铁和便利店都有来着”（台湾），“奥地利连的士都有设置”（奥地利），“我们国家餐厅和咖啡厅都能免费使用”（罗马尼亚、乌克兰），从所有记者的意见来看，大家都对日本的WiFi环境恶劣抱有不满。而“日本虽然也有能免费使用的咖啡馆，但热点太少，需事先登录也麻烦”（巴基斯坦）等现实与“高科技国家”的形象背道而驰，似乎多少是有些让人失望。

次は交通機関の話題に。「オーストリアでは、週末は24時間電車が走っています。日本にもあれば良いのに」（オーストリア）、「都内だけでもいいから24時間運行してほしい」（パキスタン）との意見が。日本人でも24時間運行を望む人が多そうだ。また、日本のタクシーは料金が高すぎて乗れないとの声も。すべてのレポーターの国で、東京のタクシーの3分の1程度の料金で利用できるそうだ。

接下来是交通工具的话题。有意见表示“奥地利周末也有24小时电车运营。日本也有就好了”（奥地利），“光都内就好，希望能24小时运营”（巴基斯坦）等。日本人希望24小时运营的应该也挺多。另外还有意见表示日本的士太贵不敢乘。所有记者的国家只需东京的士费用的三分之一就能搭乘。

また、住居についても「冬は部屋の中が寒いです」との声。それもなんと、冬にはマイナス40度にもなるルーマニア出身のレポーターが言うのである。「ルーマニアは寒いけど、セントラルヒーティングがあるので、家の中は半そでで過ごすくらい暖かい」のだそう。「窓の近くで寝ていたら、ものすごいすき間風が。すごく寒くて驚いた」（台湾）と、気候が暖かい国や、暖房対策が万全な国から来た人にとって、日本家屋のすきま風は身にこたえるに違いない。

另外，对于居所也有“冬天屋里很冷”的意见。而说这话的居然是来自冬天零下40度的罗马尼亚记者。“罗马尼亚是冷，但是有中央暖气，在家里暖和得要穿短袖”。“睡得靠近窗子的话有很强的贼风吹入，冷得让人吃惊”（台湾）。来自气候温暖地区及暖气完备的国家的人，对于日本住家的贼风无疑是深有体会吧。

外国人レポーターの話を聞くと、日本人が思いもよらないところで、不便に感じていることも多いようだ。2020年東京オリンピックまでには、外国人にとっても不便のない日本になっていたいものである。
